Pet loss support is about giving space
to your grief
while finding comfort and connection.
How do you take the first step?
Your beloved companion is no longer by your side.
But your love remains.
Pet Loss Support – How We Help You Heal
Gentle guidance after losing your dog, cat, or horse.
When Lex died, my heart broke.
Something inside me knew that this grief shouldn’t be hidden away.
It deserves a place to rest.
A place where tears can fall, memories can live on, and love can remain.
‘Regenboogpootjes’ has become that place for me, and hopefully for you, too.
It’s for people and animals in mourning.
For love that continues to whisper even when all is quiet.
Why does it hurt so much to say goodbye to your pet?
When your beloved companion dies, you lose more than just a pet.
You lose part of the rhythm of your life.
The walks.
The look in their eyes when you wake up.
The little habits that were woven into your day.
You lose someone who was simply always there.
Without words, but with an endless presence. Sometimes the world falls to a halt.
The basket is empty. The house is quiet.
It seems as if no one really understands what that feels like.
Saying goodbye is an everyday occurrence in animal care, too.
Veterinarians: Assistants. Shelter workers.
They carry, guide, and comfort.
But who carries them?
We will walk with you through the grieving process:
The quiet loneliness that follows the loss of your beloved companion — as if no one truly understands how deeply it affects you.
Grief that remains invisible because “it was just an animal” is still all too common of a thought or statement.
There is no place to lay down your grief, no support or foundation; you just have to carry on.
For professionals, it’s about guiding people through goodbye after goodbye while their own emotions have nowhere to go.
What do you expect from grief counseling?
You’re not looking for a solution.
You are looking for a place where your grief can be expressed.
A place where it does not have to be pushed away.
but is gently embraced.
You want to feel that your love still has a place.
You want to feel that what you miss will not be forgotten.
You want to feel that the bond is still there, even if its form has changed.
Healthcare professionals long for something real, too.
They long for real support.
Humanity.
Understanding.
They want space for their own grief
Amidst all the caring, they need space for their own grief.
They learn how to guide owners through loss.

My story
I am Maryse
—
an emotional person, a mourner, and deeply connected to animals.
🌱 My story
My journey did not begin with a plan, but with loss.
After the death of my soulmate Lex, years of unprocessed grief surfaced,
layers that I could no longer ignore.
I dove into it, with ups and downs.
I felt my heart breaking, but also how it began to speak.
I started listening again.
To my body.
To my emotions.
To animals.
I studied naturopathy, grief & loss processing, and delved into what words often cannot express.
Regenboogpootjes is my promise to Lex.
And to everyone who has ever had to let go of something dear to them.
Testimonials from animal lovers
Frequently asked questions about grief and sadness after the loss of your beloved companion.
Is this for me, even though it's been months or years since my beloved companion passed away?
Yes. There are no deadlines for mourning. If you feel that something is still rasping or tearing at you, you are welcome to come.
Do I have to be spiritual to work with you?
No. My approach is humane and personal. Spirituality is a layer that may be taken along, but never has to be.
How do the sessions work practically?
You start with an exploratory conversation (live or digital). After that, I usually work in a series of 5 to 6 sessions, at your pace, using different methods.
I am a veterinarian or work with animals. Can I also come to you?
Perhaps more than ever. Because those who care often carry the burden, even in silence. I offer training and a place where you too can come and relax.
What do people need to know about you?
What you see is what you get. That I am honest, present, and engaged. I truly walk with you, but I also ask you to have the courage to pause. That is where gentleness begins. That is where healing happens.
My other dog/cat has been acting differently since the loss. Can you help with that?
Animals feel bereavement just like we do. They are searching, waiting, and grieving. We offer support to make space for them too. This can be through conversation, practical tips, or simply by sensing together what they need.

Are you yourself grieving?
Do you work with animals and are you carrying too much?
Do you simply want to share your story, or feel if this path might be yours too?

In the future, we want to start heart circles, and who knows, maybe even a network of like-minded souls.
